Clear Creek Kayaking – Monroe County

Indiana’s Best Whitewater – Only Experienced Kayakers

Clear Creek is hard to plan because we need 1 – 3 inches of rain to get it going.  But when it gets moving it is the best whitewater in Indiana.

We offer 3 trips along Clear Creek or if you prefer we can combine two or three.  Clear Creek is the fastest stream in all of our trip offering and is only runnable after a significant rain of 1.5″ or more  It is fast and you need to be an experienced kayaker to run this trip.  Usually there are strainers (trees laying across the creek) that will strain you out of the kayak so you cannot let the current push you up against a tree. You have to portage strainers when the current is high.

The scenery along this path is beautiful featuring cedar trees, high limestone bluffs, and rock formations and a lot of wildlife.  When you have finished your kayaking experience, Cedar Bluffs Nature Preserves offers 23 acres to continue your explorations.  Again, you must have some kayak experience to run this creek, and you must wear your PFD.  Some folks even wear helmets and that is not a bad idea.
